The rear styling of the original Porsche Panamera just doesn’t quite work. At best, it can be described as misshapen. I actually like the Panamera in spite of its rear styling. But now, Porsche fixed it, and it didn’t even take a big change!
Before the new Panamera came along, I didn’t really have a good idea on how to fix the back of it. But now that the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , it all makes sense to me! Fastback 5-door hatchbacks need rear quarter windows to look right. Observe!
The styling of all these cars works!
The original Panamera tried to merge a 5-door fastback’s overall proportions with the back half of a 987 Cayman.
But for some reason they skipped the quarter windows that even the Cayman has, leaving a big metal C-pillar with no quarter window to fill out the lines of the greenhouse. Sure, the back doors have that little extra piece of glass that sticks backwards some, but it’s not a full-on quarter window.
It didn’t work. Except if by “work” you mean “looked like a humpback.” Then, yeah, the rear styling of the original Panamera worked great.
The new Panamera adds the quarter window, and also adds the crease in the hatch like the back end of a 991, and voila, magic, the styling works!
Now why didn’t I think of this before?

And yet... I think the rear light styling was better on the old Panamera. The new butt looks too try-hardish in that regard. “ERM NERT A PERSHER, ERM ER CAMERHO!”

Now that that's sorted, we simply need to go further.

Mazda Lantis , a.k.a. 323F in Europe, and a few other names in other parts of the world.

Honestly, I liked it before, and while I do like the one better, I’m totally confused by people who hated in before but love it now. These look extremely similar to me. Sure it has different tail lights, and yes if you look closely, the rear windows extend back further, but the general shape and styling is nearly identical otherwise.

I didn’t like the old one, and I don’t care for the new one. I’ll say the tweaking of the styling is an improvement, but it still looks ugly to me. At best it looks good do to the side by sides, but look at a picture of it alone and it's still ugly.

I like you, you use an SD1 Vitesse as an example.

It also came with the amazing K-Series V6 if you had the right model. The same as the Xedos 6 but in a higher/lower state of tune depending on the trim.
TL;DR, You can get a Lantis with a super smooth 2.0 V6 and it’s awesome.
And yes, the spoiler is a factory option for the higher spec models.

Ehm... NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! The old taillights have no shape to them! They just conform to the shape of the body. It’s like they just splashed some red paint over the body.

Compared to the new taillights, which look like somebody scooped an accent line into the rear and then stuck in chunks of

I always get a kick out of hearing ‘2.0 V6'. Mazda was doing amazing things back then; it’s a shame none of it worked out for them in the end (Amati, the W12 project, Eunos, the 20B trirotor, the Miller Cycle V6, tiny V6s, etc)

We used to have a 2.0 V6 Xedos 6 in the family, and it was fantastic.
Very smooth motor, shame it’s no longer with us today, but the engine was salvaged and is being used in a race car.
Shame Mazda is no longer as ambitious as it was before, but at least they’ve recently managed to perfect their ordinary cars.
